The Servology colocation network has two DNS resolvers: resolver A on 93.190.168.254 and 2a02:6d0::1, and resolver B on 93.190.168.255 and 2a02:6d0::2. These resolvers are available for use from all Servology IP addresses, so this maintenance is relevant to any colocated or virtual servers, and anyone using connectivity via the Servology network, where machines are configured to use the Servology DNS resolvers.

The changeover involves only altering routes on the main routers, so the change for each IP address should happen instantaneously and should not cause any downtime, although any queries in progress at the moment of changeover are likely to time out and never complete. When this happens, clients properly configured with both resolver addresses should fall back to the other resolver.

I have been testing the new resolvers by using them on my home network for several weeks with no problems. The only notable change in behaviour should be that the new resolvers perform DNSSEC validation; under almost all circumstances this should not change the answers they return.

There are no upcoming maintenance windows currently scheduled.
